MY STORY

Until my early 40s, I thought I was pretty healthy. Sure I had chronic, sometimes painful, struggles with migraines, canker sores and UTIs, but nothing that freaked me out. I kept active, took care of my family, worked, volunteered, maintained my weight, cooked most of our meals, and limited junk food.

Then one day in 2010, an article with a clever title like "What Your Poo Says About You" caught my attention. Turns out, it had a lot to say about me. For as long as I could remember, I had a “nervous” stomach. Just another annoyance, or so I thought.

It said food allergies can cause diarrhea. At that moment I realized it wasn’t my “nerves”, but what I was eating. My doctor tested me, found zero food allergies, then shrugged when I asked what else it could be. I stared blankly at him and decided I'd have to figure this out myself. I soon discovered something I don’t think he even knew - there’s a difference between food allergies and food sensitivities! I had my next clue and two ways to confirm my hypothesis (specialized lab testing and an elimination diet).

Then came some devastating news. My 69 year old dad was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer. I focused my energies on his health and emotional support, but eventually my thoughts drifted to my own mortality. I already knew his father, my grandfather, died of stomach cancer at 49. My digestive “challenges” clearly portended a family or genetic weakness and my future doom. Thankfully, dad fought with immense courage and determination for 1.5 years giving us precious time most pancreatic cancer families don’t get.

Not willing to accept a similar fate, I confirmed the root cause of my digestive distress (major food sensitivities to gluten and dairy) and healed my damaged gut (from repeated antibiotic use and gluten). And I found my purpose. A few years later (2015), I became a Certified Transformational Nutrition Coach and started a whole new career.

Before nutrition and wellness, my education and experience was in business. I launched my career as a financial analyst at IBM before transitioning into marketing and general business consulting. What made me successful back then was my ability to thoroughly analyze, and then streamline and systemetize complex tasks. That's the same skill set I use today to filter through endless health content in order to pull out and effectively apply what's is best to support my clients.

My body was always always telling me there was a problem. Thankfully, I eventually repurposed my skills and gathered the supplemental wisdom to listen, learn, act, and heal. If my story resonates with you, and you're ready to start your own health journey, then please contact me today. I’m ready and excited to help you, too!
